IBMS East Midlands
IBMS East Midlands Region serves as a channel of communication between IBMS Council, the Institute office and its local members. The region and branch network has an important role to play in supporting local biomedical scientists, promoting the profession, implementing policy, building up local networks and organising meetings. The region covers the branches of Leicester, Northants & Rutland, Notts/Derby and Lincolnshire.

IBMS East Midlands at Congress 2009
The East Midlands Region of the IBMS sponsored five members from the East Midlands Region to attend a day at Congress 2009. As part of this sponsorship, the lucky members were asked to produce a report on the experiences of their day. The reports cover the full three days of Congress 2009.

HPC for CPD: 6 months to go (PPT 6.5 MB)
On 28th May, Ian Sturdgess East Midlands Council Member gave a talk titled 'HPC for CPD: 6 months to go' at Kettering General Hospital. Ian reminded those present that the clock is ticking and those selected for CPD audit will be receiving their letters in September along with their HPC renewals. Ian discussed all 5 standards including the ammedment proposed to Standard 5 due to a third party producing 'ready prepared' profiles for registered practitioners. He then went on to discuss the assessment process with information that he has obtained through discussion with members of the HPC. A number of information sources were then aluded to including a video stream that is accessible from the HPC website. A lively Q&A session followed with a number of issues being raised.
