Many new members will join either while studying, which case they may apply for Associate membership, or following graduation and registration, in which case they may apply for Licentiate.
Each class of membership has its own criteria but it is important to note that Member class requires applicants to have a minimum two years professional experience as a Licentiate while Fellow requires applicants to have a minimum of three years professional experience as a Member.
You need to complete and return an application form to the IBMS with any necessary extra information.

The IBMS has developed non-standard routes for practitioners of biomedical science who for a variety of reasons are not able to apply for Institute membership via standard routes.
