The Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC) programme has developed new BSc (Hons) curricula to support the delivery of the Healthcare Science Practitioner Training Programme (PTP). You may recall that professional bodies were invited to comment and shortly we will write to thank those bodies that responded.
The 2010 / 2011 versions of the five BSc (Hons) curricula, which address points raised by professional bodies, are now available to view and download on

To accompany the BSc (Hons) curricula the work-based learning outcomes and associated competencies are expanded in a PTP Training Manual. This work has been led by the Professional Advisers in the Department of Health MSC team with extensive professional and NHS involvement. Indeed, colleagues from your professional body may have been involved in the development of the manuals and in addition may also have sought comments from other colleagues and/or one of your committees.
The Education and Training Working Group (ETWG) of the Medical Education England Healthcare Science Programme Board, which provides professional advice on education and training issues to the Secretary of State and his advisors in DH, will be reviewing the manuals for the MSC Practitioner Training Programme.
On behalf of the ETWG we are writing formally to seek your professional body's comments on the attached manual for Life Sciences, which the MEE ETWG would be pleased to consider during their review.
We would be grateful if you could respond by Friday 25th February, 2011 and send your comments to Alison Hartnell at msccurriculum@dh.gsi.gov.uk
Received from the Department of Health's MSC team.
