Charlotte Hill, IBMS member and trainee healthcare scientist at Royal Liverpool University Hospital, was awarded the prize for her 1,500 word essay on "How could Healthcare Science education and training be further enhanced to deliver quality patient outcomes?"
Charlotte was one of two runners up in the Rising Star category at the 2012 Healthcare Science Awards. The award was presented by the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley MP alongside the Chief Scientific Officer, Sue Hill. On presenting the awards, the Secretary of State highlighted the impact the healthcare scientists had made on their services and the benefit this had shown in outcomes for patients.
Charlotte's winning essay will be published in August's edition of The Biomedical Scientist.
