Scottish Quality Management Discussion Group Meeting: 17th May 2011
The fourteenth national Quality Management Discussion Group, for all disciplines, was held under the auspices of the IBMS Scotland, at the Steele Lecture Theatre, Perth and was attended by 38 delegates, some attending for the first time.
Our May event is almost entirely dedicated to discussion with a single guest speaker to help stimulate debate.
Our guest speaker was Cormac Smyth of BD, and he gave an excellent presentation on the issues surrounding the pre-analytical phase and possible solutions. The break out groups continued with this theme with many anecdotes shared concerning this important area and action points raised to be taken back to delegates respective labs as examples of best practicce. Other discussion points for the day were:
• POCT and the accreditation process.
• ISO 15189:2011
• CPA Conference update
• Quality award scheme
• Quality indicators
• The catering ….. and no carrot cake!

Please note the next meeting is Friday 18th November 2011, in the "Teacher" Building, St Enoch Square, Glasgow (same venue and format as in previous years).
