Clinical laboratory standards

The Institute will award training status to a laboratory that meets the IBMS Clinical Laboratory Standards. 

IBMS training approval is necessary for a lab to undertake Institute laboratory based portfolio qualifications. The process has recently been reviewed and updated and also now includes an additional category for the support staff qualifications.

Full training approval of a laboratory is awarded on a combined basis of submitted training documentation and a completed application from. A subsequent visit of an Institute representative, on a registration or specialist portfolio visit will moniter the approval status.  The first step is to submit a completed application form with training documents to the Institute.
