Help promote the profession on IBLS Day 2018
22 March 2018
IBMS members are encouraged to celebrate International Biomedical Laboratory Science Day this April

15 April will mark the annual celebration of International Biomedical Laboratory Science Day. Originally launched in 1996 by the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IAMLT), this awareness day is to recognise and celebrate the profession and the vital responsibility of biomedical laboratory personnel in preventative and diagnostic healthcare systems.

This day is intended to raise awareness of the role that biomedical laboratory scientists play in healthcare. Biomedical Laboratory Scientists conduct tests which are instrumental in diagnosis, quality development and assurance, treatment, research and development in the modern medical sciences.

This year’s theme relates to health issues and supports the UN and WHO Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The theme for 2018 is: “Antibiotic Resistance: Biomedical Laboratory Scientists respond to the global threat”.

See the guidelines for celebrating BLS Day, and the attached event flyer for more information.
