IBMS welcomes NHS England appointment
29 July 2021
Following the announcement that Amanda Pritchard has been announced as the first female chief executive of NHS England, the IBMS welcomes her experience and insight of biomedical science.

Amanda is currently the chief operating officer for NHS England and will begin her new role on 1st August.

Responding to the appointment, IBMS President Allan Wilson said:

“I am pleased at the appointment of Amanda to her new role which comes at a crucial time for health services across the four nations.

Biomedical science is vital to the response of the NHS as it looks to clear the aftermath caused by the pandemic. Our members have worked tirelessly throughout COVID-19 and are under increased pressure to support the NHS as it catches up on the demand for its services.

I wish to offer Amanda the opportunity to support her new role through working with the IBMS, providing her with our expert advice and representing the voice of our membership who work at the heart of healthcare.”
