IBMS attend Technician Commitment event at the Francis Crick Institute

On Thursday 16 November, Lynda Rigby, Executive Head of Membership & Marketing and Christian Burt, Professional Support Services Manager attended the Francis Crick Institute's event to highlight the importance of technicians in science.

After presentations by the Science Council, Lynda and Christian met Francis Crick employees undertaking a variety of technical and managerial roles.

Kelly Vere of the Science Council gave an enlightening presentation underling the Technician Commitment that many employers are now making. Kelly emphasised that "technicians must be visible in the workplace and the commitment ensures recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians across all disciplines".

Christian said:

“The IBMS welcomes technical staff from non-traditional biomedical science entry routes. As a Licensed Body of the Science Council, we can support professional development through RSciTech registration.  It is hoped that such external engagement promotes the importance of IBMS membership as a collective voice for all who work in laboratory sciences.”
