HCPC renewal window for Biomedical Scientists now open
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) renewal window for Biomedical Scientists opened on 1st September 2025 and will remain open until 30th November 2025. Renewing your registration on time is essential to maintain your HCPC registration and continue practising as a Biomedical Scientist. The HCPC strongly encourages registrants to renew as early as possible to ensure a smooth process and avoid any last-minute stress. You can renew via your HCPC online account as soon as the window opens. You do not need to wait for an invitation or reminder email. We are looking for volunteers to host our Training Officer Support Forums. These are drop-in sessions that take place on the first Tuesday of every month between 12-1pm. #CLINICAL24 2025Clinical24 takes place from Oct 1 – Dec 31, 2025 and is a flagship 3-month campaign that will highlight a typical day in the clinical lab. It will explore critical challenges, technology solutions and breakthrough clinical science being employed around the world, through useful and practical information, engaging content, and conversation. Professional Standards Authority updates Right-touch regulation The Professional Standards Authority has published an updated version of Right-touch regulation. It uses a principles-based framework to help decide how best to protect the public by assessing the level of risk of harm and choosing the most effective and proportionate response, whether through regulation or other actions. The last version was published in 2015, and the current version expands on its central ideas to support regulators in responding to the challenges and opportunities faced today. IBMS makes the London & South East Finance Awards 2025 Shortlist The IBMS's Finance Team has made the shortlist for the London & South East Finance Awards for the Pharma & Healthcare Finance Team Of The Year Award. Shortlisted teams have demonstrated excellence in their fields, with proven examples of collective success over the last 12 months. The winner will be announced at the awards ceromony on Thursday, 23rd October 2025. Read more about the awards here. Community of Practice for Advanced and Consultant Biomedical Scientist SurveyAdvanced and Consultant Biomedical Scientists are invited to take part in a survey about establishing a Community of Practice to connect professionals in our field and facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing and career development. Survey on digital system training and CPD for Biomedical ScientistsBiomedical Scientists and Trainee Biomedical Scientists working in hospital laboratories are invited to take part in this research survey on how the rollout of Electronic Patient Records (EPR) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is shaping training and CPD. The survey intends to identify potential gaps in digital awareness and how these could be addressed to strengthen continuing professional development (CPD), which is required for maintaining HCPC state registration. The Undergraduate Internship Programme (UIP) is designed to engage and attract students from underrepresented professions to consider a career in health and social care research. The students should be in the early stages of their academic studies. You can apply for up to 3 early-career researchers per application to host up to a total maximum of 3 interns. Each application must have a lead applicant and may have co-applicant(s) if applicable. The interns will gain hands-on experience through a fully funded and flexible placement in the area or discipline they are interested in pursuing.
