A mandatory 4 week basic course in cervical cytology designed for trainees working within the Cervical Screening Programme. This course is completed with a further 5 days of follow up training.
Delegates will understand and learn the specialist skills in specialist principles of cellular pathology and histological staining techniques.
THE COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR BEGINNERS AND THOSE WITH SOME EXPERIENCE IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF MEDICALLY IMPORTANT FUNGI. THE FIRST HALF-DAY WILL CONCENTRATE ON YEAST IDENTIFICATION, THE REMAINDER OF THE COURSE WILL FOCUS ON DERMATOPHYTES AND OTHER MOULDS ENCOUNTERED IN HOSPITAL MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORIES. IT WILL INCLUDE A NUMBER OF SPECIES FEATURED IN EXTERNAL QUALITY ASSESSMENT SCHEMES
The EM Summer School aims to provide a basic training in both the theory and practice of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The course covers imaging, diffraction and chemical microanalysis as well as the highly important area of sample preparation.
