Do I want to be a Genetic Counsellor?

Due to popular demand, the Liverpool Centre for Genomics, Liverpool Women's Hospital are rerunning an afternoon workshop for those interested in Genetic Counselling.

This workshop is an excellent introduction for all clinical staff and students who have an interest in Genetic Counselling or in becoming a Genetic Counsellor. You will also have access to experienced GCs at all levels. The course will be running online at a reduced rate of £5. To book, or find more information please email lisa.dowell@lwh.nhs.uk. Aims: 
  • To understand the role of a genetic counsellor.
  • To look at the changes in mainstreaming genomics.
  • To look at the various educational routes into genetic counselling.
Outcomes

After the study day attendees will be able to understand the basics mainstreaming of genomics by looking at current and emerging knowledge and practice; draw a family pedigree; understand their educational options/routes into genetic counselling and to have a clear understanding of the role of a genetic counsellor
