HPV primary screening procurement update

HPV primary screening procurement update
22 May 2019
An update on the procurement of HPV primary screening was released yesterday by NHS England

The IBMS has received the following update from NHS England

We are pleased to confirm that we have now progressed further through the procurement process to secure providers to deliver HPV Primary Screening within the NHSCSP, and are writing to provide you with an additional update on the current position for Lots 1 (London) and 2 (North East).

In relation to Lot 1 (London), we have now had confirmation on sign off from the new NHS Regional Structure.  Bidders for this lot have been notified of the outcome today (21st  May 2019) and that the 10-day Standstill Period has now commenced. This will conclude at midnight on Friday 31st  May 2019 (going into 1st  June 2019).   We will be in touch with you after this date with a further update.

In relation to Lot 2 (North East), the Standstill Period has now concluded and we can confirm that the preferred bidder for this Lot is Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.  Lead commissioners will now be able to commence the process to formalise the contract with this provider.  Earlier today, bidders for this Lot were notified that standstill has concluded via the procurement portal.

For staff working in services covered by these two lots, we understand it has been and continues to be a very uncertain time.  Please be assured that during this prolonged period of uncertainty, we have and continue to work very hard to bring these issues to a conclusion.

We have a stakeholder meeting planned for the 12th June 2019 and intend to provide any further updates on mobilisation and contract award at this meeting.

The IBMS will continue to provide updates from NHS England regarding the HPV primary screening programme once received.
