IBMS members celebrate achievements at NE Gala

On 7th October the IBMS hosted the North East region gala dinner and awards ceremony.

More than sixty guests attended, including IBMS President Ian Sturdgess and IBMS CEO Jill Rodney. The event was hosted by Debra Padgett, IBMS NE Council Member and David Robinson, NE Regional Chair.

The IBMS silver medal was awarded to Professor John Magee, Robert Pratt and Michael Soar, for their fifty years of continuous dedicated membership.

Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, followed by a lively talk by historian Lesley Smith (pictured) on ‘Sex and the Tudors’.

IBMS Fellow Debra Padgett commented,

“I was delighted to see so many enthusiastic Biomedical Scientists celebrating the achievements of our 50 year medal winners and HSD students. I hope this will become the basis on which to invigorate our North East Region and Branches and look forward to our next celebratory event.”
