Nominations open for Royal Society’s awards
The Royal Society’s medals and awards are now open for nominations
The Royal Society is a UK based independent scientific academy committed to promoting excellence in science. The society bestows awards annually to scientists who have shown excellence in their fields. This year there are a series of medals and awards available to nominees in the field of biomedical science.
The awards and medals include:
- Buchanan Medal for distinguished contributions to the biomedical sciences
- Leeowenhoek Medal and Lecture which recognises excellence in the field of bacteriology, microbiology, virology, mycology, microscopy and parasitology
- Francis Crick Medal and Lecture, awarded in any field in biological science
- Royal Society Africa Prize, which recognises research scientists based in Africa who are actively contributing to the biological sciences
Nominations for the medals and awards are open until 30 January 2017. Please note, self-nominations are not accepted and two references are required. You can nominate a candidate on the Royal Society’s online system, which requires users to set up an account before making a nomination.
