UK ADC launches Blood Culture Pathway survey

UK ADC launches Blood Culture Pathway survey
8 January 2019
All laboratory professionals are encouraged to complete this survey

On behalf of NHS England, the UK Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Diagnostic Collaborative (UK ADC) has developed a survey to support their work on the Blood Culture Pathway.

This forms one of the key areas of the UK ADC as part of the UK government’s response to AMR. Professor Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer for England has overseen a three part strategy, focussing on infection prevention, promotion of the development of new antimicrobials, and preserving existing antibiotics through better use of existing and new diagnostics.

To support this strategy, the UK ADC has developed a survey, to gain a better understanding of current laboratory practice in relation to quality and unwarranted variation. This will enable the UK ADC and its partners to develop mechanisms to improve services.

All laboratory professionals are encouraged to complete this survey, which can be accessed online.

The results from the survey will be used to support the development of the next steps in improving services and tackling the challenge of AMR.
