UK SMI bacteriology documents withdrawn

Last updated: 16th August 2024

These documents were withdrawn on 13th August 2024

Please note the following UK SMI documents have been withdrawn:

UK SMI B 1: Investigation of ear and associated specimens

UK SMI B 2: Investigation of bacterial eye infections

UK SMI B 37: Investigation of blood cultures (for organisms other than Mycobacterium species)

These documents were withdrawn on 13th August 2024 following the publication of  UK SMI S 11 - Red and painful eye, UK SMI S 12 - Sepsis, and other disseminated infections and  UK SMI S 13 - Painful and/or discharging ear.

This is in line with the UK SMI strategy and in agreement with the UK SMI Steering Committee that technical UK SMIs will be replaced with the relevant syndromic document as they are published.

Your attention is drawn to the terms of use of this website, which you must read before accessing the documents. In cases of difficulties please contact the Standards Unit (standards@ukhsa.gov.uk).
