World Parkinson’s Day

World Parkinson’s Day
11 April 2017
10 million people around the world have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Let’s unite for Parkinson’s

10-16 April is Parkinson’s Awareness Week, with World Parkinson’s Day being held on 11 April. This day will mark the 200th anniversary of when Parkinson’s was first recognised as a medical condition. Professional bodies and organisations around the world are uniting on 11 April to raise awareness of this serious disease.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that damages nerve cells in the brain. A person with Parkinson’s may have trouble doing simple tasks like tying their shoes or brushing their teeth. For people with this disease, the effects are both physical and psychological.

Affected people can easily lose their self-esteem and become depressed. To prevent this and care for people with Parkinson’s, BIAL Pharmaceutical has launched a campaign to raise awareness of this disease and show people affected with Parkinson’s at their best, doing the tasks that people with Parkinson’s can have trouble performing.
