Supporting the profession and you

Professional guidance

Our policies and guidelines are the benchmark for standards in biomedical science and in the laboratory. We enable the profession to deliver safe, high-quality care by setting standards for the profession and supporting biomedical scientists in their practice.

Verifiers and examiners

Becoming an IBMS Portfolio Verifier or Examiner is an excellent opportunity for you to give something back to the profession and to share your expertise and knowledge, for CPD and for engaging with a network of biomedical scientists who share a common interest in training and maintaining professional standards.

Public engagement

Public engagement is a rewarding way for our members to support and promote the profession and to inspire the next generation of biomedical scientists. To promote the importance of biomedical science, we encourage our members to take part in public engagement activities such as careers fairs, school trips and laboratory tours. To support their events we provide a range of resources and marketing materials specially designed to promote biomedical science.

Case study

Being an IBMS member has helped me throughout my career. I regularly use their online forums to talk to other professionals, offering me help and advice. It has also helped me to become involved in the profession, meeting with other members through the Discussion Groups and at AGMs as well as at Congress.
