The Institute of Biomedical Science Professional Indemnity Insurance Scheme has been arranged by Trafalgar Risk Management and Parliament Hill Ltd, taking into consideration the broad range of duties and activities undertaken by Institute of Biomedical Science members. For those members who are in full-time employment within the NHS or the private sector, your employers should provide the necessary Professional indemnity cover (although it is always best to check with your employer to make sure you are covered under their policy). For members who require direct cover for their activities, i.e., where no other cover is provided elsewhere, you are able to arrange cover to fit your personal circumstances.
However, your employers policy won't, in the vast majority of cases, include cover for complaints being made against you to the HCPC or the regulatory body of the NHS, from a patient or another healthcare professional. The TRM scheme includes the costs associated with defending a member in the event of a disciplinary hearing being called by a regulatory body.
Institute of Biomedical Science members are free to choose their own provider for Professional Indemnity Insurance, however this product offers:
- Professional Indemnity - £1M in the annual aggregate, incl. defence costs.
- Legal expenses - £100,000 any one claim.
- Premiums exclusive to IBMS members.
Cover is subject to final acceptance by the underwriters.
Benefits are designed for users who are UK residents and may not be suitable for users who reside outside the UK.

National Price Promise
Terms and conditions apply: a written quotation must be supplied by way of proof. This quotation must be on a like-for-like basis. To be valid, a price promise claim for a refund must be presented in writing to: Parliament Hill Limited, Britannia House, 21 Station Street, Brighton BN1 4DE or emailed to info@parliament-hill.co.uk within 14 days of purchasing your policy. As part of your price promise claim, Parliament Hill will pass on your details to TRM who will follow up with your price promise claim. The Price Promise does not include policies as part of group schemes. The price match sum will be paid in a lump sum, to cover the term of the policy quoted.
