Start your journey into biomedical science
An IBMS Accredited degree will help you meet the academic requirements to become registered as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Some programmes (coterminous) have integrated clinical laboratory training that enable you to be complete the Certificate of Competence on completion of your degree so that you can apply to the HCPC for registration.
Other biomedical science degrees combine laboratory training (during the degree or post-graduation) for completion of the IBMS Certificate of Competence Registration Portfolio.
Non-accredited biomedical courses
If you have a non-IBMS Accredited science degree and are seeking HCPC registration, you will be required to have your degree assessed.
It may be necessary for you to take additional learning to reach the level of knowledge required. The exact requirement will depend on the content of your honours degree.
