How does the IBMS use cookies?

We use two main types of cookie:

PHP session cookies

These help users by setting up a session so that the site 'knows' that the user is logged into a secure area with a certain level of access.

The site also knows when to log a person out of the members' area after a period of inactivity – this is for security purposes.

The session cookie is also used to transfer the user from the members' area to the web discussion forums so that users don’t have to enter access information again.

Tracking cookies

These are used to gather information about visitor behaviour.

The IBMS uses Google Analytics, a popular web analytics service provided by Google, Inc.

Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyse how users use the site, and understand how we can improve the site.

We only collect limited personal information to build anonymous statistics on web behaviour.

We don't collect personal information for marketing purposes, nor do we sell any information collected by cookies, or pass any information onto third parties, except where required by law.

How can you control cookies?

You can modify your browser so that it notifies you when cookies are sent to it or you can refuse cookies altogether.

You can also delete cookies that have already been set.

However, you should note that restricting or deleting cookies will also restrict your internet experience and use of website facilities.
