Who can become a Licentiate? 

To become an IBMS Licentiate, you must be working in biomedical science and have:

  • A UK Honours degree (BSc Hons) in a biomedical science related subject, or an overseas qualification confirmed as equivalent by UK ENIC
  • Or, HCPC registration with at least one year of professional experience at Honours degree level

If you don’t have an honours degree but are HCPC registered and have at least one year of professional experience, you can still apply.

You’ll need to:

  • Ask your laboratory manager to complete a supporting statement

  • Send it along with your application form and payment

    • If your laboratory manager is not an IBMS member, the supporting statement must either:

    • Be sent directly from their work email to [email protected], or

    • Be written on official letter-headed paper
