This course is aimed at both life science and clinical science fields, with the common fundamentals covered on day 1 and 2. The course then splits into life science and clinical orientated modules, from practical demonstrations to lectures highlighting not just the applications, but best practice as well.

Flow Cytometry Learning objectives:

Basic Course Day 1 - 2

• To learn about the basic principles and application to Flow Cytometry. A key tool used for clinical diagnoses and research.
• The delegate will understand the basic of fluorescent and different dye types. The use of different labelling strategies such as the use of antibodies, and other stains. Delegate will also learn the basic layout and configurations of multiply flow cytometers. How to insure that these are performing correctly, using arrange a of PQ assessment procedures and the basic of data analysis.
• This is followed by practical demonstrations of how to deal with multiply dyes simultaneously and using blood lymphocytes for multi-colour compensation.
• Practical demonstrations then go on, so that the student understand the importance of concentrations, cell suspension, and other aspects that could affect the output results.

Advanced course
Day 3

• Delegates will learn about immunophenotyping, leukaemia and lymphnode. Multiply disciplinary diagnosis. Delegates will also patriciate in an open session about data analysis in this area.

Days 4

• This day goes on to look at forming complex panels for detections and diagnosis in various blood assays, this will include Lecture on studying apoptosis, Probes / Stains / Reagents, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria, Platelet Biology, Fluorescent Proteins, FRET and Flow Cytometry and CD4 and CD34 counts.

Day 5

• The delegate will understand the role and need for NEQAS. Consider the relevance of their results, and how to present their results before learning about the flow cytometry in to the future.
