Today, we are proud to celebrate Biomedical Science Day and mark a special milestone – 10 years of recognising and showcasing the incredible contribution that biomedical scientists and laboratory professionals make to healthcare.

Since 2017, Biomedical Science Day has provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the profession #AtTheHeartOfHealthcare, celebrate the people behind the science and inspire future generations to pursue careers in biomedical science.

What began as a dedicated day of recognition has grown into the largest awareness campaign for our profession. Each year, laboratories, healthcare organisations, educational institutions and biomedical scientists and laboratory staff across the UK and beyond have used the day to open doors, start conversations and show the public how biomedical science supports patient care.

Biomedical scientists are at the heart of patient care. From diagnosing disease and monitoring treatment to supporting life-saving clinical decisions, their expertise, dedication and commitment ensure that millions of patients receive accurate and timely results every day.

On behalf of the Institute of Biomedical Science, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our members for their professionalism, hard work and unwavering commitment to the profession. Your contribution to healthcare and patient safety is invaluable, and this 10th Biomedical Science Day provides a fitting opportunity to recognise and celebrate everything you do.

We would also like to thank everyone taking part in Biomedical Science Day celebrations. Whether you are hosting an event, welcoming visitors into your laboratory, sharing your experiences online, supporting colleagues or helping to raise awareness of the profession, your involvement has helped make this milestone year a success.

As we celebrate 10 years of Biomedical Science Day, we look back with pride on what has been achieved and look forward to continuing to champion the profession and its impact on patients, communities and healthcare services for many years to come.

Thank you for your support, your dedication and your passion for biomedical science. We wish everyone a happy and successful Biomedical Science Day.
