Why nominate?
Celebrate excellence
Biomedical scientists make a difference every day, often behind the scenes. IBMS Awards provide a national platform to showcase that contribution and recognise work that improves services, advances knowledge and supports colleagues.
More ways to be recognised
The expanded range of categories means there are more opportunities to recognise:
-
Individuals demonstrating leadership, innovation or emerging talent
-
Teams delivering outstanding collaborative work
-
Organisations driving progress through education, sustainability and partnership working
If you have ever thought awards were not for you or your workplace, this year’s categories may prove otherwise.
Raise profiles and inspire others
Being shortlisted or winning an IBMS Award can raise professional profiles, support career development and inspire others by sharing what good practice looks like.
Who can nominate?
IBMS members can nominate:
-
Themselves
-
A colleague or team
-
An organisation or partnership
If you see work that deserves recognition, taking the initiative to nominate can make all the difference.
How to write a strong nomination
You do not need to be an expert writer to submit a successful nomination. The strongest entries are clear, focused and evidence-based.
Focus on impact
Go beyond describing what was done. Explain what changed, who benefited and why the work matters.
Use the criteria
Each category has clear criteria. Use these as a structure and address them directly to make it easy for judges to assess your nomination.
Be specific and concise
Use clear examples and plain language. Avoid jargon.
Tell the story
Set out the challenge, the approach taken and the outcome achieved. A simple narrative helps bring the nomination to life.
Be confident
Do not undersell achievements. Be factual, clear and proud of what has been achieved.
