Winners announced for the Advancing Healthcare Awards 2026
The IBMS is proud to sponsor the Biomedical Scientist of the Year at the prestigious Advancing Healthcare Awards. Held on Friday, June 19th, at the Royal Garden Hotel in London, the ceremony celebrated outstanding contributions and innovations in healthcare.
This year, we are thrilled to celebrate Angela Jean-Francois, Managing Director and Biomedical Scientist, North West London Pathology, who has been honoured as the Biomedical Scientist of the Year 2026.
Angela is a highly accomplished biomedical scientist with significant in-depth knowledge of Pathology services, having worked at a senior management level for over 25 years. She is an IBMS Fellow and chartered scientist, and is currently the IBMS Council member for the London region, Chair of the IBMS Education and Professional Standards committee, and a course module tutor for the IBMS CEP in leadership and management. Angela is also an editor for the Oxford University Press series of Biomedical Science textbooks on Clinical Immunology.
The judges thought that Angela is an exemplar of the profession, demonstrating strong leadership, innovation and skill, with an unwavering commitment to biomedical science.

To be awarded the 2026 Biomedical Scientist of the Year’ at the Advancing Healthcare Awards was truly an honour.
I am really proud to be recognised for my commitment to my profession as a Biomedical Scientist and personally thank all friends and colleagues who have been part of my journey.
I have spent the last 28 years contributing to the profession, supporting the IBMS through specialist advisory work, and more recently as London Region Council member and Chair of the Education and Professional Standards committee.
I am a passionate advocate for education, training and workforce development with a focus on EDI and allyship. Having a leadership role in a thriving pathology network, enables me to influence and strengthen the biomedical science profession, underpinned by a true passion for biomedical science and our ability to deliver outstanding patient care’
The Advancing Healthcare Awards continue to foster partnership working across professional boundaries, celebrating those who support and enhance health services alongside Allied health professionals and healthcare scientists.
