Overview
Becoming an IBMS Portfolio Verifier or Examiner is a great opportunity to:

Indemnity insurance cover
The IBMS provides professional indemnity insurance for verifiers and examiners while they undertake IBMS-related duties. This does not cover non-IBMS work.
Who can apply?
To become an IBMS Registration Training Portfolio Verifier or IBMS Specialist Portfolio Examiner, you must:
✔ Be an IBMS Member or Fellow
✔ Be HCPC registered (or equivalent for non-UK applicants)
✔ Have at least three years of post-registration experience
✔ Be currently working in an IBMS-approved training laboratory
✔ Provide a CPD summary covering the last two years
Additionally, Specialist Portfolio Examiners must have specialist-level experience in your named discipline(s).
📌 Important notes:
- External verifiers must have worked in an IBMS approved laboratory within the last two years.
- Retired verifiers who have been out of practice for more than two years are not eligible.
- Academic professionals involved in IBMS Accredited undergraduate degrees with placements in IBMS approved training laboratories may still qualify.

To become an IBMS Registration Training Portfolio Verifier
✔ Complete and submit the Registration Training Portfolio Verifier Application Form (including a CPD summary for the past two years) to [email protected].
To become an IBMS Specialist Portfolio Examiner
✔ Complete and submit the Specialist Portfolio Examiner Application Form (including a CPD summary for the past two years) to [email protected].
If you meet the criteria, the IBMS Education Team will add you to the list of IBMS Verifiers and Examiners.
📌 Training requirement
Before conducting verifications or examinations, you must attend an IBMS training session. The IBMS Education Team will contact you with details of upcoming sessions.
