Your vote shapes the future of the IBMS

Have your say in who leads the IBMS—vote now

The IBMS Council Elections 2026 are now open, this is your opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the future of your professional body.

Cast your vote before 17:00 BST on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

The IBMS Council is the Institute’s governing body, made up of six national and twelve regional members. Elected by the membership, Council is responsible for making key decisions, setting policy and strategic direction, and ensuring the organisation achieves its aims and objectives on behalf of members.

Council members play a vital role in guiding the Institute. As trustees and directors, they are responsible for how the IBMS is run, how it represents the profession, and how it continues to meet the needs of biomedical scientists and healthcare laboratory staff now and in the future. The decisions they make have a direct impact on members – from professional standards and education to advocacy and long-term investment in the profession.

This year, elections are being held for five National Members of Council and one South East Region Member.  Members are encouraged to vote.

Voting is a simple but important way to ensure your voice is heard. By taking part, you are helping to shape the leadership of the Institute and ensuring that Council reflects the priorities and ambitions of the biomedical science community.
