Get involved and celebrate
Biomedical Science Day is a chance for the whole profession to come together.
Whether you’re planning a team event, engaging with your local community, or sharing your work online, every activity helps raise awareness of the vital role biomedical scientists play.
Here are some ideas to get started:
Bring your work to life
Invite colleagues, students or the public into your laboratory – or take your work to them. Lab tours, microscope sessions, simple experiments and interactive exhibits help people see how biomedical science supports diagnosis and patient care.
Connect with your community
Consider hosting a stall in a hospital entrance, community centre or school. Short talks, quizzes and demonstrations are great ways to spark curiosity and start conversations about biomedical science.
Shine online
Social media is a powerful way to amplify your message. Share photos, videos or “day in the life” stories using #AtTheHeartOfHealthcare and #BiomedicalScienceDay2026 to connect with colleagues and reach wider audiences.
Celebrate your team
Biomedical Science Day is also a chance to recognise the people behind the science. Highlight your team, share personal stories and celebrate the different disciplines that make up the profession.
Inspire the future
Use the day to engage with students and early-career scientists. School visits, workshops and career conversations can inspire the next generation to explore biomedical science.
If you’re looking to take your involvement even further, I’m a Scientist is inviting biomedical scientists to take part in a special Biomedical Science Day activity. This is a great opportunity to connect with school students and talk about your career and experiences in the profession. You can sign up here
Contact your local politician
Using our online tool, you can enter your postcode, find your local representative and send a personalised message about why biomedical science matters to you, your workplace and patient care.
Share your Biomedical Science Day stories
As part of our 10-year celebration, we’re inviting members to share their
Biomedical Science Day stories from the past decade.
Whether it’s a standout event, a memorable moment, or the impact your activities have had,
we’d love to hear from you. Selected stories will be featured in a special blog on our website.
