POCT – The Power to Disrupt September 2019

The event will update delegates on how POCT services are forming part of the plans that NHS Improvement have for networks in England. Collaborative working and standardisation of tests across regions is high on the agenda. The approach to service provision will be relevant for all territories. This event will champion the excellent work that is being undertaken which disrupts traditional patient care with POCT tests at the heart of a number of positive improvements to patient services. The agenda covers many exciting applications of point of care tests, and a full product fair will offer delegates a chance to see innovations in this sector whilst networking with colleagues to share best practice.

Learning outcomes include a better understanding of the expectation of networks to collaborate and plan standardised point of care testing in their region. This will prepare attendees for the journey ahead and enable conversations to start around consolidating services.

There are many innovative applications of POCT in healthcare and this agenda covers successes in a number of areas of care such as respiratory infection, detection of blood borne viruses and sexual health, flu testing to alleviate pressure on acute care, and projects using POCT to improve patient blood management (PBM).

Many of these initiatives are being deployed outside of the hospital setting and this will be covered in a presentation centred on community diagnostics.

Delegates will be able to reflect on the day’s content, and leave with a delegate handbook containing the presentations which will act as reference material for future improvements.
