8th May 2019
Venue: Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The workshop is designed to supplement the in-house experience and training for trainee BMS staff, those currently completing the IBMS Registration Portfolio, or staff in a support role such as Associate Practitioner.  At the end of the session the delegates should be able to understand the basic principles of non gynae cytology and cytological staining techniques, and be able to trouble shoot if problems occur, becoming competent in non gynae cytology techniques at a basic level.  This workshop is a mixture of presentations and practical microscopy sessions aimed at staff who are new to non gynae or those who prepare non gynae samples.  This will include descriptions of the common non gynae sample types, the expected cells seen in benign conditions and frequently encountered malignancies, together with information on basic preparation techniques, dilution and trouble shooting.
