Introduction to the Principles and Practices of working safely at ACDP Containment Level 3 February 2019

This course gives the delegate a systematic review of the facility design, operational practices and safety management which contribute to working safely in the CL3 environment.

Venue: Public Health England, Porton Down

Each lecture is between 30-60 minutes long. Practical work will involve carrying out a laboratory inspection, dexterity testing, Good Microbiological Working Practices especially when working in Microbiological Safety Cabinets, Code of Practice and laboratory  design. These will be carried out over several 2 hour long sessions. The course will also include a two hour practical session on accident scenarios. The delegates will have tours of the high containment laboratory and service floor to gain a better understanding of the functional aspects of the laboratory and air handling systems. The delegates will also undertake two half hour written closed book assessments used to assess understanding and knowledge gained over the 5 day course.
