BMS Reporting in Histopathology – Stage A GI & Gynae Exam Preparation Day Jan 2018

This day has been put together specifically for those working towards the BMS reporting qualification and approaching or contemplating undertaking their stage A examination.
The day has been put together by Jo Horne & Karen Ezard who have experience in both the part A & part C examination with the support of Brian Green, a consultant histopathologist and member of the Conjoint Board.
There are GI and Gynae modules which will run concurrently.
This is an exam preparation course. There will be advice and useful hints and tips from those that have taken the examinations along with a session around submitting a successful portfolio but it is not a morphology course. Participants will undertake a mock examination based around cases that might easily appear in the exam and then receive feedback on their performance.

Enthusiastic and expert faculty in laboratory medicine have been recruited as teachers and we have been getting good feedback from previous attendees in previous years. The course is particularly unique as we provide both lecture based as well as practical hands on training as well interactive problem based sessions.

One-Day Update Course in SurePath Gynaecological Cytology - Negative v High Grade January 2018

The day starts with a lecture discussing the features of high grade dyskaryosis and its mimics pointing out features useful in distinguishing between them. This is followed by a workshop of original dotted slides all of which were passed up as high grade, some of which represent genuine high grade and some of which are the mimics. Most of the cases have the answers on the reverse and are meant for self-study, but 12 cases are blind and will be discussed around the multi-header microscope after lunch. The multi-header session is followed by a "true of bluff" presentation on cases from the cervical cancer audit with some fake case histories and mimics to consolidate the earlier learning. The talks are rounded off on a talk about medico-legal aspects.
