The students from the university of Salford pulled out all the stops when they engaged with colleges to inspire young learners about Biomedical Science. A number of outreach activities were organised from NHSBT lab tours and visits to Connel Co-Op College and Holy Cross College.
Waqas Hussain, Biomedical Scientist and Wythenshawe Hospital said, “Thank you to Tahmina Hussain for giving me the opportunity to attend the outreach event at Holy Cross College. It was my first time presenting like this to students and I really enjoyed it. What made it more rewarding was I actually attended this college myself and seeing the teachers again was brilliant. Also I realised how much I missed the college cookies. The student feedback from the event was amazing and getting a personal shout out from one of them meant a lot”.
Dr Laura Ahmed and her students at Manchester Metropolitan University participated in an extracurricular and informative event by attending a Parasitology Live Lab training.
Laboratory departments from hospitals across Greater Manchester hosted stalls and stands to allow visitors see what we do in our labs. From children to pensioners- People of all ages. Patients & staff from the hospital and visitors to the hospital.
The Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership won the award of best stand in a photograph captured by The Greater Manchester Diagnostics Network
