Haematology (2nd edition) has won the Royal Society of Biology’s Undergraduate Textbook Prize

The IBMS is pleased to congratulate members Gary Moore, Gavin Knight and Andrew Blann for their book, Haematology (2nd Edition), winning the Undergraduate Textbook Prize in the Royal Society of Biology Book Awards.

Dr Gary Moore CSci FIBMS is a consultant Biomedical Scientist at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Gavin Knight CSci FIBMS is a Principal Lecturer in Haematology and Course Leader for the IBMS accredited BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science programme at the University of Portsmouth. Dr. Andrew Blann FRCPath CSci FIBMS is the editor of the British Journal of Biomedical Science and Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham.

Haematology (2nd edition) is in the Fundamentals of Biomedical Science series, which is endorsed by the IBMS. The edition introduces haematology and provides concise explanations and helpful key terms as well as discussion questions, case studies and quizzes to help students improve their knowledge and develop their problem solving skills.

The £500 prize is awarded by the Royal Society of Biology in recognition of an outstanding undergraduate text in life sciences, bioscience or biology.  The book was shortlisted for the award earlier last month, and the winners were announced at the Royal Society of Biology’s annual awards ceremony on 13 October during Biology Week.

Judges described Haematology (2nd edition) as “An excellent fundamental textbook. Written in a modern style it is well designed with plenty of useful case studies and practical experiments.”
