Lead the next generation of biomedical scientists by volunteering with The Access Project

Since 2022, IBMS have proudly supported The Access Project, an educational charity that empowers children from underprivileged backgrounds, helping them to access top universities through a programme of coaching, tuition and in-school mentoring.

Working across 41 schools across London, West Midlands, East Midlands, and the North West, The Access Project has cemented itself as a key player in bridging the educational gap, supporting students from under-resourced backgrounds to achieve their full potential.

Here at IBMS, our goal is to drive the next generation of biomedical scientists, setting standards for the profession through initiatives like training, education and continuous professional development.

As an Access Project volunteer, you can help a young person develop the skills and knowledge they need to explore a range of career paths. With a 99% satisfaction rate among tutors, this programme offers a rewarding opportunity to foster a more inclusive educational landscape.

The Access Project is particularly interested in tutors from STEM subjects, so as an IBMS member your knowledge and skills are in high demand.
