Celebrating International Women’s Day 2017

Celebrating International Women’s Day 2017
8 March 2017
Today the IBMS is celebrating and promoting the achievements of women in biomedical science

International Women’s Day is dedicated to women around the world and is promoted annually by companies, professional bodies and organisations to recognise women and promote equality worldwide.

By celebrating International Women's Day the IBMS aims to raise the profiles of its female members, to highlight the achievements of women in the biomedical workforce and to inspire future generations of female scientists.

As 64% of IBMS members are women we want to ensure that their hard work, dedication and professionalism and their achievements are recognised.

We are proud to have run a Thunderclap campaign, which has gained over 100 supporters meaning over 100,000 people will see our message. Throughout the day we will also be sharing messages of inspiration from our members through our social media accounts as well as linking to content on our website.

Promoting women in science

Female IBMS members have been asked to contribute to International Women’s Day by responding to calls for contributions to our dedicated women in science section of our website.

To help promote their diverse and excellent accomplishments in the field of biomedical science, we have asked them to: write blog posts and case studies, answer 10 questions, send us photos from their workplace, plus we have an exclusive women in science book review.
