‘A different way to die from explosives’

Dinitrophenol is an industrial chemical used in production industrial chemicals including explosives. It has been used as a dietary aid for some years and has become popular with body builders. It has been linked to fatalities and the sale of the chemical is due to be restricted in the UK later this year. The talk will also include the mechanism by which dinitrophenol acts on the body.

Haematological Morphology Study Days: Morphology and its Relationship to Disease

This course is designed for those studying for their specialist portfolio in haematology, but is suitable as a refresher for those returning to the subject or an update for those already qualified.

Day one deals with the proper use and care of the microscope, staining and stain QC/ trouble shooting and normal haematopoiesis. This day will contain a workshop on normal morphology.

Day two will discuss the pre-analytical variables that can affect the sample and result, disease process and the associated morphological abnormalities and the clinical significance of the generated report for the patient, be it negative or abnormal.

These two days can be taken together or individually as suits the learners needs.
