IBMS Manchester Branch: The Strength of Networks in Biomedical Science
We are excited to bring you the latest developments and achievements within the Greater Manchester Pathology Network (GMPN). As we continue to work hand in hand with pathology services across the Greater Manchester region, here is a snapshot of our recent progress:
Digital Transformation in full swing
Our commitment to innovation is evident in the success of two major digital programs. The LIMS implementation project is progressing, ushering in an upgrade to Clinysis software at laboratories in Bolton, NCA, Tameside, and Stockport. It is anticipated that all labs will be live on these systems throughout the course of 2024. Simultaneously, the digital pathology program is making strides, introducing digital slide scanning into histopathology through the Sectra solution, with successful implementations across Greater Manchester.
GMPN discipline subgroups maturing
The discipline subgroups within GMPN are evolving into crucial entities, actively addressing challenges unique to their respective disciplines. These groups are dedicated to fostering an environment of collaboration, sharing best practices, and exploring avenues for standardising procedures.
NHS Futures - A valuable resource created by Practice Educator Facilitator, Julie Miller.
The GMPN NHS Futures page continues to grow as an important free to access resource that is available to all staff working in Greater Manchester pathology services. This platform offers valuable career and development information, in addition to links leading to various webinars and self-development e-learning courses, that staff can access for their own professional and personal growth.
Inclusivity in action
In January, the Greater Manchester Pathology Network commissioned two workshops concentrating on neurodiversity, sparking important conversations around improving inclusivity in recruitment and day-to-day practices.
The GM Pathology Network is always open to hearing your thoughts and ideas for future development events. Your input is invaluable, so don't hesitate to reach out and share your suggestions.
