IBMS Awards inaugural Prize for Diploma of Expert Practice Qualifications

Sarah Gibson MSc CSci FIBMS is the first recipient to be awarded the IBMS Prize for the Diploma of Expert Practice.

Sarah works as an Advanced Practitioner in Histological Dissection for the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust within the Department of Cellular Pathology.

Sarah was delighted to have been awarded the inaugural Prize for the Diploma in Expert Practice: "I am thrilled that the DEP qualifications have been recognised in this way. All of the individuals I have met who have either completed the qualification or are studying for it have been hugely determined and hardworking and it is great that this award is a way of recognising that.".

Sarah is also currently taking part in the RCPath/IBMS BMS Histopathology Reporting Pilot in Gastrointestinal Pathology:

"My day is currently split between dissection and reporting. I have found that studying for the DEP in Histological Dissection has given me a huge advantage in embarking on this new challenge by giving me a sound foundation upon which I can continue to build upon.".
