IBMS celebrates first Chartered Scientist in Malaysia

IBMS celebrates first Chartered Scientist in Malaysia
29 October 2014
Associate Professor Dr Mohd Nazil Salleh is the first IBMS member in Malaysia to become a Chartered Scientist

Associate Professor Salleh is Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical and Health Sciences University Selangor Malaysia (UNISEL). Associate Professor Salleh has over ten years’ experience in translational cancer research, focusing on cellular gene expression profiles and has established a Genomic research laboratory UNISEL.

Associate Professor Salleh was delighted to discover that he is the first person in Malaysia to become a Chartered Scientist through the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS):

"Personally I’m honoured to be the first Malaysian to become a Chartered Scientist (CSci) through the IBMS. Becoming chartered is a feather in one’s cap and will certainly boost my credentials in my field. Now that I am a Chartered Scientist, I hope to widen my network for research collaboration and to range across different sectors and disciplines.”.

IBMS Professional Services Support Manager, Christian Burt, hopes Associate Professor Salleh's success will encourage scientists from across the globe to become Chartered:

"For the individual, Chartered Scientist represents a demonstrated commitment to professionalism. Professor Saleh has shown that making an application need not only be from the UK and that our members overseas can also reach this standard. The process is not exhaustive and the IBMS can also help source Chartered colleagues if you are unable to secure a proposer to support your application.".
