IBMS Council Member awarded Honorary Fellowship of Royal College of Pathologists
26 November 2014
IBMS Council Member Allan Wilson CSci FIBMS has been invited to become an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath)

The award was confirmed at the College’s Annual General Meeting earlier this month. The award of Honorary Fellowship will be conferred at a ceremony to be held in 2015.

Dr Suzy Lishman, President of the Royal College, warmly welcomed by the College’s unanimous decision to approve Allan’s recommendation for Honorary Fellowship: “Honorary Fellowship is the highest honour the College bestows. Our Honorary Fellows comprise several Nobel Prize Winners and others of great distinction and eminence. I congratulate Allan on achieving this recognition and look forward to welcoming him into Honorary Fellowship.”.

Allan was delighted at receiving such a prestigious honour: “I am honoured to be invited to become an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College, I am very proud to receive such recognition. I feel this honour also recognises the advanced role of biomedical scientists in cytology. The Institute has been pivotal in the introduction and promotion of advanced roles in all laboratory disciplines and I would like to thank the Institute and its members for all their support over the years, without which I would not be receiving this accolade.”.

Allan Wilson joins a distinguished list of pathologists and scientists, including IBMS Past President Derek Bishop CSci FIBMS, who have been awarded Honorary Fellow by the College.
