IBMS members showcase biomedical skills
Biomedical scientists Martyn Hicks, Sam Passmore and Hannah Whitbread, along with Transfusion Practitioner Karen Godfrey attended a ‘Work and Wellbeing’ careers event at The Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
The team hosted a stand at the event, which was attended by 300 students aged 14-19. The interactive stand featured activities with prizes for students, as well as a chance to look in a microscope and talk with professionals about career pathways.
Deputy Lead Biomedical Scientist in Haematology Martyn Hicks commented,
“I duly jumped at the chance to promote pathology as a career. We have had some excellent feedback from the students and tutors and I hope this will lead to continued interest in this area as a science career.
This also ties in with our initiative to link an Apprenticeship to a BSc degree course to give a progression route to Biomedical Science.”
