Members of the Life Sciences Outreach Society showcased science for the public

On 18 March, members from Liverpool University’s Life Sciences Outreach Society took part in a ‘Meet the Scientists’ event. The event ran from 10am-4pm on the day, with over 100 visitors attending.

Rachel Horner, Co-President of the University of Liverpool’s Life Sciences Outreach Society, commented,

“The event was fantastic!
Our workshops were DNA extraction and building a DNA out of sweets, and there were 9 other workshops around the museum, covering a whole range of life sciences.
We were giving out the little 'science bugs' to people had completed all of the workshops (there was an official prize but people really liked the bugs) which were a big hit!”

The Life Sciences Outreach Society is one of twenty-two IBMS student affiliate societies. These groups work with the IBMS to help promote the profession and engage with biomedical science students at universities.

If your society is signed up for activities and wants help in promoting them, contact pe@ibms.org and we would be happy to help.
