New guidance on the calculation of acute pathology costs
In response to Lord Carter of Coles’ Review of Operational Productivity and Performance in English NHS Acute Hospitals: Unwarranted Variations, Dr. Gwyn McCreanor, President of the ACB, has produced a guidance document for the calculation of acute pathology costs in response to the recent letter from the Chief Executive and President of NHS Improvement.
The Carter report reviews Lord Carter’s assessment of the operations of 136 English acute hospital trusts, and stresses the need for improvement of hospitals if the £22bn a year of efficiency savings goal is to be reached by 2020-2021.
We are grateful to Dr. McCreanor for sharing this document with the IBMS and permitting its wider circulation to our members.
