World AIDS Day 2016

World AIDS Day 2016
1 December 2016
Come show your support for World AIDS Day

Today marks the annual global health day for AIDS. Whilst there have been advancements in the treatment of HIV, many people living with HIV face social stigma and discrimination.

Today WorldAIDSDay.org is running a campaign called Not Retro, Just Wrong, and it promotes the point that stigmatising those affected with HIV and AIDs should be left in the past.

To show your support for World AIDS Day and the campaign, you can:

  • Wear a red ribbon
  • Host a fundraising event for National AIDS Trust
  • Post on social media a retro picture of yourself with the campaign hashtags #HIVNOTRETRO and #WORLDAIDSDAY
  • Share one of the infographics and fact images about HIV online

Events around the UK are taking place today in support of World AIDS day, such as vigils, radio specials, and more. For information about this global day, see the World AIDS Day website.

The IBMS encourages its members to take part in World AIDS Day and help show solidarity with this global day and campaign.
