Biomedical scientists promote profession at careers fair
3 February 2017
Biomedical scientists Derrick Edgerton, Victoria Ipindamitan and Paul Samou spoke at a student fair.

On 17 January, IBMS members Paul Samou, Victoria Ipindamitan and Derrick Edgerton and promoted biomedical science at the London Future Pathways event; a student careers event held in East Dulwich.

Paul commented, “We had a great time with students. There were over 30 stands to represent different organisations but, most of them were universities. Only a couple were professional organisations including ours. Most of the students did not know about the profession, they were asking lot of questions about working in a laboratory and also the degree related to the profession.

“We took time to explain what we do and advised them about the degree which, must be accredited by IBMS. In my opinion, we were one of the busiest stands as students did not stop turning up. I did enjoy the event, so I decided to become a volunteer for STEMNET and have more opportunities to promote the profession.”
