Help shape the EQA agenda

Help shape the EQA agenda
2 March 2020
Volunteers are required for an External Quality Assurance (EQA) review programme

We have an excellent opportunity for Institute members to help shape the External Quality Assurance (EQA) agenda. IBMS President Allan Wilson has been working with the RCPath, ACB, ACP, UKAS, MHRA, and EQA providers to set up a new pathology wide EQA review programme to improve the governance and culture of pathology QA - including point of care. Its overall aim is to ensure patient safety and high quality care across the health service.

As part of the programme, a number of national work streams are being established. Currently, four have been proposed:

  • governance and assurance
  • poor performance
  • external partners
  • sharing the learning

We are looking for one biomedical scientist to contribute towards each work stream. The individual should be experienced with expertise in the oversight and delivery of technical EQA including POCT and/or Quality Improvement, and Patient Safety.

It is envisaged that there will be a minimum of four meetings (a mix of teleconference and face to face) per year over two years with actions progressed via email between meetings. All reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed. If you have a query or would be interested in contributing as an IBMS representative, please get in touch with IBMS Chief Executive Jill Rodney (jillrodney@ibms.org) with a brief account of your work history, eligibility and preferred work stream.

This is a great opportunity to work with medical, scientific and relevant allied health professionals to help shape a key agenda.
