Wishing you a happy and peaceful Christmas

This year has gone by so quickly that it’s hard to believe it’s Christmastime. As I look back on the year I really believe that, together, we have made huge strides in promoting and advancing the profession, as well as raising the profile of biomedical scientists and all those who work in pathology labs. From the huge participation in and success of Biomedical Science Day to the incredible atmosphere of our best Congress ever, it has been my pleasure to work with members across the four nations to celebrate the contributions you make to science, healthcare and the wider community.

As professionals we do not stop for a day or even an hour because what we do is vital for the health and wellbeing of everyone who uses, and benefits from, our services. I, like many others, am grateful to you for the work that you do all year round but even more so at this time year when you may find yourself working while others are celebrating. Take a moment to remember the huge importance of what you do and that you are very much appreciated by patients, colleagues, family and friends.

I hope that you will have the opportunity over the festive season to share time with your loved ones and recharge your batteries ready for what, I trust, will be a very happy and exciting 2020.
